Cycle by cycle, we give plastic a new life. For decades, we have been the global driver in making the circular plastics economy a reality. That is deeply rooted in our DNA and has been our purpose from the start. We are now applying our thinking to all areas in the sustainable development of the EREMA Group and all its subsidiaries and are transferring circular philosophy to our sustainability strategy, our sustainability loop.

Sustainability loop

At EREMA Group, we think in cycles. Not just with our products. The process for developing our sustainability strategy also runs in a continuous cycle - our sustainability loop. Our process meets the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). We have already carried out the materiality analysis and identified our key topics. We are currently working on specific measures and goals in the respective subject areas.

Materiality analysis

We take in our entire environment and assess our opportunities and risks of corporate activity, as well as our impact on the environment and society. In doing so, we include the views of all key stakeholders in order to obtain as comprehensive a picture as possible.

Our topics

Based on the materiality analysis, topics are selected in which the EREMA Group can make the biggest contribution to sustainable development. These are implemented as concrete measures in our activities.

Our goals and indicators

In order to make our progress measurable, we define goals and indicators for all our measures.

Implementation

We implement the measures to achieve our goals in accordance with our defined time schedule.

Evaluation

We are constantly monitoring the status of the goals achieved and, if necessary, launch new measures.

Materiality analysis

The subject areas covered by sustainable development are extremely diverse. A materiality analysis is carried out in order to determine in which areas the EREMA Group can make the biggest contribution to sustainable development. In doing so, we comply with the specified processes of European regulations.

Our environment

We analyse our entire environment (context analysis):

  • Which Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations do we have an influence on?
  • What is our area of activity?
  • Who are our stakeholders?
  • What are our relationships with them and how do we communicate with them?

Our contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

In particular, we can use our actions to influence the following SDGs:

Icon SDG3 - Good Health and Well-Being Icon SDG4 - Quality Education Icon SDG5 - Gender Equality Icon SDG8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth Icon SDG9 - Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure Icon SDG12 - Responsible Consumption and Production Icon SDG13 - Climate Action Icon SDG17 - Partnerships for the Goals

Double materiality

Double materiality means looking at sustainable development issues from two perspectives:

  • What negative and/or positive effects does the EREMA Group have on the environment and society?
  • Which topics involve financial risks and/or potential for the EREMA Group?

It is particularly important to include the views of as many stakeholders as possible in these considerations. This gives the EREMA Group as comprehensive a picture as possible of its options for action.

Our stakeholders

A variety of different stakeholders are directly or indirectly affected by our actions. Both their interest in the EREMA Group and their influence on our activities vary enormously:

Stakeholder survey

A comprehensive stakeholder survey took place in autumn 2023. 36 percent completed the survey questionnaire and returned it to us. The following groups of people received the questionnaire:

  • Owners
  • Executive board
  • Management team
  • Supervisory board
  • Employees
  • Key accounts / Customers
  • Top suppliers
  • Agents
  • Banks

Respondents assessed a list of sustainability-relevant topics in terms of two aspects:

  • In your opinion, how important is the respective topic for the EREMA Group?
  • To what extent does the EREMA Group have opportunities to directly influence this topic?

Do you also have ideas or feedback relating to our sustainable development? We look forward to hearing from you:

Our topics

These comprehensive analyses and evaluations reveal the topics that are currently key to our sustainability strategy. We are now working in small groups from different divisions of the EREMA Group on specific goals and measures relating to how we can drive positive development in the respective subject areas.
